Maintenance Worker

Incumbent participates in accomplishing Interior Design moves and coordinates schedule set ups for Medical Center events. Repair work consists of but not limited to the following elements:
Completes needed repairs to installed furniture systems and reconfigures furnishings as needed. Performs all scheduled preventive maintenance by policy or direction. Major job duties include:
Repair a wide variety of equipment/furnishings including but not limited to assembly and repair of recliners, repairs manual/electrical items of rolling stock (housekeeping carts, flatbed carts, movers, etc.). Installs/refastens/repairs handrails, grab bars, curtain tracks, wall and ceiling mounted accessories, shelving, cabinets and other items or casework such as door closures and door stops. Installs/refastens needle boxes, glove boxes, baby stations, hangs artwork, posters, pictures (secure mounting), installs bulletin boards, clocks, calendar boards, etc. Performs all scheduled preventive maintenance by policy or direction. Repair/replace venetian blinds and other window items such as locking devices, latches, etc. Incumbent repairs items of furniture such as work surfaces, file cabinets, bookcases, lockers, shelves, etc. Installs / uninstalls systems furniture. Incumbent fabricates utilizing sign making equipment and installs signage according to the VHA signage manual. Drive motor vehicle for relocating and storing of furnishings, supplies, carpet and misc. items. Maintains and organizes EMS warehouses / storage areas. Will be required to have 30-hour OSHA training on items that are pertinent to position. Possess a basic knowledge or aptitude of electrical, mechanical, carpentry, and plumbing trades. Must have the ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide and work with simple fractions. Under the immediate supervision of the Housekeeping Supervisor but will also receive instructions from Interior Designer(s), in congruence with related EMS work assignments. Responsible for the maintenance, storage and safeguard of tools, equipment, materials, and supplies for his/her area of assignment. Work Schedule:

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
Physical Effort:
Incumbent is required to climb ladders, reach and lift heavy loads over forty (40) pounds and walk long distances in a regular work day. A great amount of kneeling, bending and climbing of stairways is required. Must be able to stand on ladders for long periods of time at various heights. Employee must be able to wear safety and protective clothing, or equipment prescribed for the work setting. Working Conditions:
At times the incumbent is required to work in areas that are poorly lighted. Is required to work both inside and outside in all types of weather. The incumbent works in areas where clothes and skin can be soiled by grease, dust and steam. The incumbent is required to work in areas that are noisy, such as pump rooms, service rooms, etc., including areas that are exposed to gases, fumes, smoke and dust. Works in all areas of the Medical Center, to include contagious diseases, and/or contaminated areas. Incumbent will be provided and required to wear universal protection items such as; caps, gowns, mask, full face, or any safety equipment. Driving as needed to CBOC clinics (
/ - 6hours each way).

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
