Financial Technician

The VA Cooperative Studies Program Clinical Research Pharmacy Coordinating Center (CRPCC) is administered and funded by VHA's Office of Research & Development (ORD), Cooperative Study Program (CSP). The Cooperative Studies Program (CSP) Pharmacogenomics Lab and CRPCC. Typical duties include but are not limited to:
Monitor purchase requests with the contracting officers and logistics staff. Reconcile discrepancies, reconstructs incomplete information, and adjusts dollar amounts and quantities as necessary. Monitor undelivered orders, notifying CORs or financial managers regarding issues, discrepancies, and funding insufficiencies or excesses. Independently prepares a broad variety of financial spreadsheets, graphs, charts, and reports for use by researchers, project managers, budget analysts, auditors and others on the status of any budget or segment of the budget. Assist senior staff in preparing the budget(s), one of the many subsidiary budgets, or other major reports, by collecting data from existing sources and organizing it into a readily usable format or gathering nonstandard data which may require extensive searches. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. Note:

Specialized Experience GS-07:
You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-06) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include Monitor purchase requests; Reconcile discrepancies, reconstruct incomplete information, and adjust dollar amounts and quantities as necessary; Monitor undelivered orders; Research discrepancies between ledgers and make adjustments; Prepare written explanations of data collection methods, discrepancies, or issues; Assist senior staff in preparing the budget(s); Creating detailed itineraries and negotiating with hotels, airlines, car rental agencies, etc. to obtain the best rate; and Consider factors such as urgent timeframes, space availability, and remoteness of origin or destination points to determine when exceptions are appropriate. OR Education:
Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have one (1) year of graduate education related to the position. OR Combination:

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
