Personnel Security Specialist

Schedules and processes electronic fingerprints. Ensures policies and procedures are carried out effectively by the agency. Analyze, evaluate, interpret, and apply personnel security regulations, guidelines, and standards. Communicates regularly with managers, supervisors, personnel security program staff, and staffing specialist. Determine the eligibility of persons occupying a sensitive or non-sensitive position based on current security requirements. Determine security clearance for employees, contractors, students and volunteers utilizing agency and Office of Personnel Management delegation. Review and evaluates background investigation reports to determine security eligibility of individuals for access to sensitive information, material, resources or work areas. To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. For positions requiring positive education requirements, or if you are using education to meet all or part of the qualification requirements, you MUST submit a copy of your transcripts or an itemized list of college courses which includes equivalent information from the transcript (course title, semester/quarter hours, and grade/degree earned) in your resume. Qualifications:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks:
performing a wide variety of administrative services including management advisory functions in the areas of pre-employment suitability, investigative findings, and personnel security activities; utilizing automated systems to obtain and transmit fingerprints; initiate and review background investigations, and utilizing electronic filing database applications. GS-07 Grade Level:
1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 grade level in the federal service. OR 1 full year of graduate level education that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position to be filled. OR Successfully completed all requirements for a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in any field and meet one of the following:
1) Class Standing - be in the upper third of the graduating class, 2) Grade Point Average - have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 based on 4 years of education or 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 during the final 2 years of the curriculum, or 3) National Scholastic Honor Society - membership in one of the national scholastic honor societies. OR Combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience that meet the total qualification requirements and equal 100%. You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement. Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements:
Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
