Research Administration & Compliance Consultant

POSITION
Summary:
The Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR) seeks a qualified individual to serve as a subject matter expert in the interpretation and negotiation of contracts/grant proposals and agreements. The selected individual will provide high-level support pertaining to research compliance activities and functions. They will facilitate the interpretation and implementation of administrative agency regulations, research policy, and standard operating procedures. Additionally, they will oversee and manage special projects related to sponsored research and compliance activities, including matters involving university officials, government agencies, and industry.
This position reports directly to the Vice President for Research with delegated duties and responsibilities supervised by the Director of the Office of Sponsored Projects and Associate Vice President for Research & Compliance.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Performs in depth research and analysis in the areas of research administration and compliance, often involving novel and complex issues/processes.
2. Provides expert consultation to core office staff in the coordination, facilitation, and negotiation of contracts, grants, and agreements on behalf of the institution.
3. Supports the development and implementation process for research compliance strategies and action plans.
4. Drafts and edits a wide variety of documents, such as memoranda, contract/grant proposals, unfunded agreements, compliance reports, administrative agency regulations, policy manuals, handbooks, and newsletters.
5. Oversees special projects involving university officials, government agencies, and industry; may require the gathering of data, investigation of operational practices, and the implementation of process improvement strategies.
6. Advises management on the implications of proposed and existing regulations, policies, and practices governing research in institutions of higher education (IHEs).
7. Designs and delivers education/training curricula and plans in various formats on topics related to research administration and compliance.
8. Keeps abreast of issues and developments in current/emerging issues in research administration and compliance by reading journals, attending professional conferences, and maintains effective communication with colleagues nationwide.
9. Represents the university in activities involving funding agencies, regulatory bodies, and other external entities.
10. May serve on various boards, committees, and operating groups, both internally and externally.
11. May oversee and lead multiple services, programs, initiatives, and/or operating groups as required by management.
12. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM
Qualifications:
Ph.D./J.D.; at least 3 years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. OR Master's degree; at least 5 years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. OR Bachelor's degree; at least 7 years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
PREFERRED
Qualifications:
Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from an accredited institution of higher education.
Five years of professional experience providing consultation to executives/management in an institution of higher education and/or industry.
Five years of experience negotiating the terms and conditions of contracts/grants, agreements, policies/regulations, and other inter-institutional documents with government, industry, and non-profit entities.
Five years of experience providing support to compliance and administrative units with regard to institutional policies/procedures and the regulatory environment within which they operate.
Five years of experience developing and delivering tailored training to internal constituencies within an institution of higher education and/or industry.
SALARY: $5,503.66 min to $8,531.47 midpoint (Monthly)

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
