Department Description: The Nuclear Monitoring & Transparency Department is responsible for developing and fielding technologies for monitoring nuclear material and warheads to enable effective treaty verification. Our primary customers are NNSA Nonproliferation R&D; and NNSA Office of Nuclear Verification. We focus on technology R&D; and technical collaborations in the areas of warhead and materials monitoring, treaty/agreement verification and transparency, and future arms control agreements. Our diverse work includes technical development for radiation detection, sensors, tags, seals, information management and protection, and other nuclear security elements, typically with ultra low-power requirements. This organization provides the research, development, testing and evaluation of advanced technologies and modern material management systems to current and future treaties. Summary:
Applies integrated technical judgment--which requires using the scientific method to recognize and formulate problems, to collect data through observation and experimentation, and to formulate and test hypotheses--to anticipate, innovate, and deliver solutions to Sandia National Laboratories missions. Roots the work in the fundamentals of science and engineering while applying a deep understanding of engineering and scientific principles. Creates and applies scientific theories and laws and engineering methods used within scientific and engineering disciplines to develop or demonstrate new designs, concepts, materials, machines, products, processes, or systems. Uses physical and computational simulation, analysis, and evaluation as inherent activities of development. Plans, conducts, and executes Sandia's science and engineering programs within the spectrum of fundamental research, development, or demonstration. Participates in the development and application of computational capabilities to solve problems in science and engineering. Applies methods and techniques that merge disciplines in science and engineering with computer science. Includes the research, development, deployment and in-depth technical support of general scientific and engineering application software and related tools. Primary Job Duties: Plans, conceives, conducts, or manages research and development for Sandia's customers and sponsors.
Directs systematic study toward a fuller knowledge or understanding of the fundamental aspects of phenomena and of observable facts, and discovers new approaches to achieve goals.
Creates new understandings and capabilities by using the scientific method's hypothesis, test, and evaluation techniques; critical review; or similar engineering research and development methods.
Initiates, designs, develops, executes, and evaluates new processes, products, or systems through basic and applied research.
Uses engineering principles to research, design, or develop structures, instruments, machines, experiments, processes, systems, theories, or technologies; to construct or operate the same with full cognizance of their design; or to forecast their behavior under specific operating conditions.
Undertakes development and possible technology transfer of solutions, products, principles or technology.

Excellent teaming and communication skills. Required: -Member-Level: Requires a Masters degree in relevant discipline (Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering or similar technical field).
2 years of experience (not including university coursework) with full lifecycle development of software applications or firmware, including architecture, design, development and testing using modern software engineering practices and tools.
Demonstrable development experience with at least one of the following programming languages: Java, C, or C++. Desired: -Experience with network programming, threading, and performance optimization.
Experience with one or more of the following languages and platforms: Java Enterprise Edition, , Python, JavaFX, or Android.
Demonstrable development experience with firmware on hardware such as microcontrollers and field-programmable gate arrays.
Experience with modeling systems using UML or SysML,
Familiarity with the Linux operating system.
Knowledge of nuclear weapons, attribute measurement, nuclear safeguards, and/or arms control agreements.
Experience with the creation of data models and database schemas. Security Clearance: Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE)-granted Q-level security clearance.
Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment background review that includes personal reference checks, law enforcement record and credit checks, and employment and education verifications. Applicants for employment must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
