WHO MAY BE CONSIDERED: Qualified students, who are eligible for the Pathways Internship program who live or go to school within the local commuting area (approximately 60 mile radius) of Albuquerque, New Mexico AND veteran preference eligibles with student status, regardless of the commuting area.
This is an excepted service appointment under the Pathway's Internship Program. The Intern appointment is an indefinite period to complete the educational requirement and may be eligible for consideration for conversion to a permanent or term appointment at the agency's discretion without further competition upon satisfactory completion of the program requirements. The full performance level of this position through conversion is a GS-07.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: In order to be eligible for an appointment under the Pathways Internship Program:
You must be a student accepted for enrollment or enrolled in a degree or certificate program on a full- or half-time basis as defined by the institution (certificate program means post-secondary education, in a qualifying educational institution, equivalent to at least one academic year of full-time study that is part of an accredited college-level, technical, trade, vocational, or business school curriculum); and
Enrollment with a qualifying educational institution such as a high school or state-approved home school; or accredited technical or vocational school; a 2 or 4 year college or university; a graduate or professional school (e.g., law school, medical school); or a post-secondary home school curriculum; and
Students must be in good academic standing according to their institution with a GPA of at least 2.0.

POSITION INFORMATION: This position is established to provide meaningful employment opportunity in the formulation and execution of long-range strategies for facility and asset management. The employment opportunity involves providing technical support for all activities involved in asset management software. You will work up to 40 hours per week in the summer and non-school periods and 16 - 32 hours per week during school. The days of the week can be adjusted to needs of the park and the needs of the student to attend school.

Duties: The main purpose of this positon is to provide technical support for all activities involved in assessment management work associated with the Facility Management Software System (FMSS), the Facility Condition Assessment System (FCAS), and the Cost Estimating Software System (CESS), and to participate in the formulation and execution of long-range strategies for facility management for parks within a Network of parks. Provides technical support on all aspects of FMSS/FCAS database software used to track and manage Facility Operations and Maintenance activities. Monitors all FMSS data entered into the system and makes any required changes. Utilizes FMSS and related software to compile, organize, and track all data collected to support a park's Asset Management Program. Work with various parks staff including Facility Managers, Maintenance Supervisors, and other park management staff to compile ad input the information necessary to produce accurate FMSS reports. Provides training and guidance on the FMSS program to various park staff. Incumbent is subject to tour of duty changes, weekend, and holiday work.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work is primarily sedentary. Occasional visits to job sites or travel to conferences may be required. Some walking, hiking, climbing or crawling may be required to perform asset inspections.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work is primarily performed in an office environment. Travel to various site locations within the network to perform asset inspections is required.
AREA INFORMATION: Albuquerque, New Mexico, is an urban area with considerable housing, educational, medical, recreational, and cultural facilities. Population is approximately 940,000 and growing. Altitude is approximately 5,000 - 6,000 feet in the metropolitan area. Temperatures range from 20 degrees in winter to 100 degrees in summer. Park housing is not available. The monument consists of over 7,244 acres and is situated on the immediate western edge of Albuquerque, New Mexico. The park preserves and protects an array of cultural resources including over 20,000 historic and prehistoric petroglyphs found along a 17 mile-long basalt escarpment. While the open space comprising the monument is tangent to residential development in the state's largest city, resources include superb natural and cultural components.

At the GS-7 level: Must possess at least one year of specialized experience. Specialized experience is experience that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to successfully perform the duties of this position. This experience must be equivalent to at least the GS-06 level in the Federal service. Examples of specialized experience include, but are not limited to, the following: providing technical support in tracking and managing facilities operations and maintenance including building maintenance, repair, and restoration; planning maintenance activities and developing preventive maintenance programs for a park, recreational area, or similar operation .
Education : Education is not creditable above GS-5 for most positions covered by this standard; however, graduate education may be credited in those few instances where the graduate education is directly related to the work of the position.
EDUCATION: All Pathways program requirements must be met and maintained throughout student participation.
