Why does the job exist? This position is responsible for performing complex unemployment insurance handling to include eligibility, separations, fraud detections, employer charges, overpayments analysis, method of payment, history transfers, claim and account audits, claimant and employer collection activities, payment processing and auditing, issuing of 15 day notices, filing of warrants of levy and lien, filing of release of warrant of levy and lien, and out of state collections.
How does it get done? Position explains provisions of NM Unemployment Insurance Law/Regulations to claimants and employers.
Position may determine customer eligibility based on the New Mexico Unemployment Insurance Laws as well as employer liability.
Determine employer liability, non-liability, and distinguish between total and partial history transfer, consolidation for employer.
Review of legal documents Who are the customers? Individuals who have applied for Unemployment Insurance Benefits Ideal Candidate Preference will be given to Spanish speakers.
Any combination of call center experience in claims taking and/or processing, eligibility determination, identifying, troubleshooting and resolving customer complaints and ensure compliance will substitute for the education and experience.
Minimum Qualification Associates Degree in Business Administration and two (2) years of claims adjustment and/or investigative experience preferably in the insurance profession.
For positions in the Unemployment Insurance (UI) Operations Center at the Department of Workforce Solutions:
Any additional call center customer service experience in claims taking and/or processing (UI preferably), eligibility determination, identifying, troubleshooting and resolving customer complaints and ensuring compliance will substitute for the education and experience.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
