Why does the job exist? Incumbent will receive and screen reports of child abuse or neglect and refer to local Protective Services office for investigation.
The Statewide Central Intake operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
How does it get done? The intake worker will receive reports of alleged child abuse and/or neglect; (40%); The intake worker will utilize appropriate judgment in the screening process per CYFD policy and procedure and worker professional standards; (20%); Demonstrate proficient telephone protocol; (20%); Gather all relevant information by the caller for appropriate screening determination.

Minimum Qualification Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Education, Counseling, Psychology, Sociology, Criminal Justice or Family Services from an accredited college/university.
Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or related experience totaling four (4) years may substitute for the required education and experience.

Employment Requirements Pre-employment background investigation is required and is conditional pending results.
Working Conditions Work is performed in an office setting with extensive exposure to regular periods of video display terminal and keyboard usage and phone usage.
Travel may be required.
Possible exposure to irate clientele.
Incumbent will work under stress and frequent time constraints.
