Why does the job exist? This position is located within the Unemployment Insurance Operations Center.
Staff in this position will complete intake applications for employers and claimants and will provide general employer and claimant information related to the Unemployment Insurance program for the State of New Mexico.
How does it get done? Interview claimant(s) to gather information related to Unemployment Insurance (UI) initial claims, weekly continued claims, benefit eligibility, fact finding and all other related information required by the UI program.
Respond to claimant(s), UI staff, and concerned party's inbound calls and electronic inquiries in an accurate, professional, and impartial manner by way of providing support of information on determinations.
Who are the customers? Unemployed residence of New Mexico Ideal Candidate Customer service, Work well under pressure, communication skills Minimum Qualification High School diploma or Equivalency and one (1) year experience in claims adjustment and/or investigative experience preferably in the insurance profession.
For positions in the Unemployment Insurance (UI) Operations Center at the Department of Workforce Solutions:
Any additional call center customer service experience in claims taking and/or processing (UI preferably), eligibility determination, identifying, troubleshooting and resolving customer complaints and ensuring compliance will substitute for the education and experience.

Employment Requirements Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.
Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment.
Working Conditions This position is located in the Unemployment Insurance (UI) Operations inbound call center.
Work is performed in an open floor office concept, call center environment with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT), extensive personal computer and phone usage, moderate noise, and possible dust.
Extended sitting and some bending and reaching may be required.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
