org Created in 1978 by the New Mexico Legislature, the Department of Cultural Affairs represents New Mexico's dedication to preserving and celebrating the cultural integrity and diversity of our state.
The Department oversees a broad range of New Mexico's arts and cultural heritage agencies.
These include 15 divisions representing a variety of programs and services.
The Cleaning Services Superintendent will perform and oversee janitorial and custodial operations, including maintenance of custodial equipment, maintaining inventory levels, and the set up and take downs for programmatic and rental events.
This position will supervise the Custodial Services Unit, including temporary staff, contract custodians, and community service participants to ensure the cleanliness of all buildings within the National Hispanic Cultural Center's (NHCC) campus.
How does it get done? Supervise and manage the Janitorial and Custodial staff as well as work performed by contract custodians and community service individuals.
Perform and manage set-ups and take-downs before and after events.
Care for and maintain custodial equipment and supplies, including ordering replacement parts, replenishing inventory levels, etc.
Provide excellent customer service and familiarize renters with general safety and facility operations.
Who are the customers? This position serves visitors, staff, tenants, renters, and members of the public.
Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is someone who is dedicated to maintaining the beauty of the NHCC's campus and buildings; is knowledgeable in maintaining a safe and healthy environment for guests and staff; has experience working within a large and fast-paced institution such as the NHCC; and can provide exceptional customer service to staff, renters, and guests of the NHCC.
Knowledge and experience with OSHA regulations related to proper use, care, and storage of cleaning chemicals is preferred.
Minimum Qualification Eighth grade education.
Employment Requirements Knowledge and experience with OSHA regulations related to proper use, care, and storage of cleaning chemicals is preferred.
Working Conditions Work is performed in a campus setting with exposure to cleaning chemicals and agents, and varying weather conditions.
There is extensive walking and standing.
Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
