Job Description Overview This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or companyThe Telecommunications Technician Senior will operate, monitor, secure and control the physical, data link, network and transport layers of base level Communications-Computer Systems (C-CS) encompassing local and wide area networks, end-to-end telecommunications and circuit switching systems, long-haul transmission and connections to the global information gridThey will effectively communicating technical information in English, both written and verbalMust be capable of using a variety of test equipment to isolate, identify, and analyze equipment; troubleshoot issues and take appropriate action to resolve the problemThe Telecommunications Technician Senior must have a solid working knowledge of the standard network physical layer componentsResponsibilities Major Job Activities:
o Install complete telecommunications/telephone cabling to support voice, video, and data telecommunications systemso Support the designing, installing, trouble shooting and maintaining company telecommunication systems and adjunct equipmento Demonstrate clear understanding of the concepts and procedures associated with best practices in the telecommunication fieldo Responsible for interpreting and utilizing as build inter-connect (IC) drawings or wiring schematics to ensure that the system is cabled correctlyo Responsible for the installation, termination, and testing of cable connections that support NIPR/SIPR/VoIP serviceso Perform Inside Plant, Outside Plant, Cabling Boring & Trenching serviceso Perform OSP/ISP cable plant troubleshooting, repair, fabrication and installation to include, copper/fiber, patch panels, MDF's, CAT 6, RJ-11, RJ-45 terminations, and perform necessary fiber optic, media converters, copper/fiber installation/repair/troubleshooting procedureso Provide telephone outside plant cable, removal, relocation, and installation, which includes all preparation, splicing, protective coating, trenching, back filling, pulling cable, cable tagging, system testing, and restoring the work areao Perform, coordinate and supervise design, configuration, operation, restoration and improvementso Install cabling and equipment in accordance with DoD TEMPEST standards and Cable Specificationso Operate, monitor, secure and control the physical, data link, network and transport layers of base level Communications-Computer Systems (C-CS) encompassing local and wide area networks, end-to-end telecommunications and circuit switching systems, long-haul transmission and connections to the global information grid as applicable in accordance with Perform Defense Communications System (DCS) Technical Control Facility (TCF) duties IAW DISA Circular (DISAC) 310-70-1o Support encasement systems such as duct work, to include iron-pipe protected systems, inner duct media protection, to house cabling systems IAW T.
O00-33A-1001-WA-1, the National Electrical Code, BISCI Telecommunications Distribution Methods Manual (latest edition), other applicable DoD/AF/MAJCOM/Local directives and policies, and IAW AFI 65-106o Performs system analysis in support of the telecommunication system; identify and assess user requirementso Operate, maintain and install communications system, including outside plant (OSP) and inside plant (ISP)o Utilize a variety of test equipment to isolate, identify, and analyze equipment; troubleshoot issues and take appropriate action to resolve the problemo Must be able to respond to emergency service-affecting situations for restoration of communication systemso Receive, complete, and document user initiated work orders through the Maximo systemo Perform preventive and routine maintenanceo Read and effectively communicate flow charts, equipment manuals and technical documentationo Perform other duties assigned or as requiredMaterial & Equipment Directly Used:

Experience:
o Minimum of 1-3 years work experience in the telecommunication field, installing, trouble shooting, repair, splicing, and terminating and site surveyso Knowledgeable in the use of power tools and test equipmento Knowledgeable in reading drawing and understanding the communication installation processo Knowledgeable to act on unique or recurring customer problemsSkills & Technology Used:
