Why does the job exist? The State Investigator will:
Investigate white collar crimes, public assistance crimes for the New Mexico Human Services Department, Office of the Inspector General (OIG) Investigations Bureau (IB).
How does it get done? The State Investigator is responsible for:
Determining applicable policy; Determining what policies and laws have been violated; Determining criminal or administrative course of action; Providing case management of special inquiries, Medicaid client fraud, Medicaid provider fraud, and public assistance fraud investigations under the jurisdiction of the Human Services Department (HSD) Office of Inspector General.
Who are the customers? The Residents of the State of New Mexico.
Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate has:
Excellent communication skills Experience with Excel spreadsheets; The ability to work independently.
Minimum Qualification Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Public Administration, Criminology or other related field and two (2) years of experience in accounting, auditing and investigation, or insurance adjusting and investigating or investigative report writing.

Working Conditions Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage.
