Specialized Experience Requirement:
For the GS-13:
You must have one-year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 in the Federal service.
Specialized experience is defined as two or more of the following:
Planning and conducting financial management of complex administrative processes (i.
e.
budgetary, financial, procurement, and property functions); and/or demonstrating technical expertise in using automated analytical tools for financial analysis; and/or creating and editing automated and written reports involving the critical examination, analysis, and summarization of accounting data.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.
g.
, Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.
g.
, professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).
Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

TIME IN GRADE REQUIREMENT:
If you are a current federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirements of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
