SummaryA successful candidate in this position will serve as a senior Personnel Security Specialist responsible for adjudicating personnel information to determine risks to national security.

DutiesAs a Personnel Security Specialist, you will:
Serves as a senior personnel security specialist and mentor with responsibility for planning, developing, and evaluating the implementation of a major segment of a national personnel security program that affects personnel security/access authorization determinations for a variety of national defense and nuclear security programs, organizations and industrial contractor operations within the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA).
Provides authoritative technical guidance and advisory assistance to a variety of senior program office and site managers, M&O contractors, and representatives of other government agencies, on the interpretation and application of Department of Energy (DOE), and national security policies, regulations, executive orders, standards, and procedures.
Functions as a program and technical expert, contributing to management efforts in developing and implementing business management systems and procedures to meet programmatic and/or compliance requirements and is responsible for planning, coordinating, and integrating the day-today operation and execution of a comprehensive national personnel security program and its related activities in support of the Division Director, the OPFCC Manager, and the NNSA.
Provides management and oversight of personnel security program activities associated with approximately 50,000 National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) clearance holders and applicants.
Oversees the work of the personnel security support service contractor to include providing specifications regarding deliverables and input on contractor performance in meeting deliverable requirements and timelines.
Evaluates the personnel security program from a programmatic perspective and develops standard processes and procedures to be utilized across the NNSA complex.
Reviews, analyzes, and assesses existing or proposed security policies and objectives to determine impact on current NNSA personnel security policies and operations in order to evaluate the impact on NNSA personnel security operations and advise senior security program managers.
Stays abreast of new developments and theories in personnel security.

Specialized experience for this position is defined as:
experience applying personnel security requirements, such as implementing guidance or interpreting national personnel security policy requirements, executive orders, and regulations and law; conducting process improvements or process streamlining and resolving personnel security policy/operational issues; and providing advice to leadership based on sound analytical principles and techniques.
Examples of Specialized Experience include, but are not limited to:
1.
Adjudicating and reviewing cases with significant derogatory information.
2.
Analyzing and interpreting national requirements in order to develop implementing procedures.
3.
Interacting with customer sites to address personnel security issues.
4.
Leading process improvement initiatives.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience.
