Construction Accountant

The Construction Accountant will oversee all aspects of the preparation of all project AIA draw reports, ensuring accurate and prompt processing and payment for construction.
Supervisory
Responsibilities:
Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff in the department.
Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
Essential Function:
1.
Ensures AIA prepared draws, other billings and receivables are correctly processed in a timely manner.
2.
Coordinates payables/receivables.
3.
Prepare and oversee month end closeout procedures.
4.
Maintains professional relationships with vendors, subcontractors, financial institutions and other company personnel.
5.
Establish efficiencies in systems/operating procedures.
6.
Provides or facilitates accurate reports and analysis on financial data and metrics such as cash forecasting, project cost, budgeting and monthly income and expense reports.
7.
Provides and assists VP of Construction and project managers with analysis of data and reports.
8.
Organizes monthly meetings to communicate information and guidance from company leadership and to review policies, procedures, and best practices.
9.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education/
Experience:
Associate's degree in Accounting or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.
At least three years of related experience preferred.

Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
High degree of accuracy, attention to detail and confidentiality.

Thorough understanding of policies and procedures used in accounts receivable and billing.
Proficient in Sage and or similar construction accounting applications.
Expert in the use of Excel.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software outside of Excel.

This job operates in a clerical, office setting.
This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners, filling cabinets and fax machines.
