Job Description:
Manage all aspects of accounting for the APS Education Foundation; oversight of disbursements, investments, audit and all finance-related activity.
Works to coordinate program requests from APS departments in alignment with district procedures.
Must exercise independent judgment and discretion about matters of significance.
Essential Functions:
Proficient in QuickBooks, Lawson and Bill.
com Prepares information required for annual independent audit and , other APS audit requirements and 990 preparations.
Ensures compliance with federal, state and local legal requirements by researching existing and new legislation, consulting with outside advisors, and filing financial reports.
Manages budget and controls expenses effectively.
Manages two operational budgets the APS Foundation Budget and the 501c3 Foundation Budget Completes daily accounting functions of all project requests required of Due to Agency accounts and individual program funding Document and maintain complete and accurate supporting information for all financial transactions for both Foundation and Due to Agency accounts Develop and maintain financial accounting systems for cash management, accounts payable and accounts receivable for both Foundation and Due to Agency accounts Review reconciliations of bank and investment accounts as prepared by contracted CPA Develop and maintain timely and accurate financial statements and reports that are appropriate for the users and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) Compiles all required reports for documentation to the Quarterly Board of Directors meetings, Finance Committee and as required all other times Liaise with the investment company overseeing three endowments Liaise with the Treasurer, Finance Committee and/or Audit Committee as appropriate Develop, implement, and ensure compliance with internal financial and accounting policies and procedures Ensure that all statutory requirements of the organization are met Responsible for APS Lawson data entry and reconciliation.
Researches and resolves problems in order to clear items for payment Receives requests for and issues Purchase Orders Completes monthly checking accounts reconciliation requirements Analyzes, clarifies and verifies purchase orders and invoices in preparation of payment Initiates and processes paperwork for all project payment requests Initiates all daily bank deposits and tracking of income statements Verifies all accounting system entries Conducts daily account audits and initiates necessary bank account transfers Maintains database system to comply with IRS 1099 reporting requirements Filing of not for profit documents with Secretary of State and Attorney General offices Researches and maintains all account payables and receivables to ensure account accuracy Prepares and distributes monthly account statements for current status and update of all program funds Responds to financial inquiries from program managers and vendors Performs miscellaneous job related duties as assigned PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND
Experience:
Three years of financial experience related to non-profit organizations Knowledge of Quickbooks Non-Profit accounting software package.
Knowledge of current APS accounting system Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
Flexibility, organization, decision-making and problem solving skills.
Interpersonal skills with diverse populations in-person and on the telephone.
Ability to meet deadlines and work on multiple projects.
Ability to work independently and as a team member Knowledge of word processing, database and spreadsheet software.
Strong basic mathematics skills.
Preferred experience and proficiency with Bill.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
