Senior Laser Systems Engineer

Applied Research Associates (ARA) is looking for a Senior Laser Systems Engineer with experience in electro-optics and lasers to join our Southwest Division's Directed Energy team in Albuquerque, NM.
The ideal candidate will be capable of applying Systems Engineering methodologies to the design, fabrication and testing of advanced electro-optical systems.
Activities will include integration and testing laser system design and supporting the technical team.

This position will include a mix of analysis, design, ordering parts, integrating elements and testing both in the lab and field environment.
As a Laser Systems Engineer you will work with a team in directed energy weapon systems/technologies.
You will identify, define and recommend solutions to the most complex technical problems.
Review reports, patents, literature and other data, maintain an up-to-date comprehensive understanding of the latest developments in the technical field as it pertains to the scope of responsibility.
Write articles and present papers for professional societies covering the broad phases of the assignment.
Support new proposal development to grow the business area.
As a Senior Laser Systems Engineer with ARA you will:
Work with electro-optics, laser (high and low power), optics, sensors and pointing Integration and testing of laser system design High Energy Laser (HEL) systems and directed energy weapons (DEW) Work with the defense industry and military customers Senior Laser Systems Engineer Requirements:
US citizen with an active DoD Security Clearance or ability to obtain one BS in Electrical Engineering minimum, in EE, Physics or related field Strong system engineering hardware background Able to lead teams, programs and business areas Team player with excellent presentation and written/oral communication skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Ability to understand and solve complex problems Interest in learning new engineering tools and understanding of all fields of engineering Senior Laser Systems Engineer (MBSE) Preferences:
MS in Electrical Engineering, Physics or related field Active DoD SECRET or higher security clearance Experience working with DoD cloud-based tools Understanding of DoD acquisitions processes Compensation:
Anticipated salary range:
$100,000 - $150,000.
Offer may vary depending on experience and skillset.
