POSITION
Summary:
UNM Extended Learning has a full-time opening on the Albuquerque Main Campus for a Systems Analyst 2. This position will be part of the Extended Learning LMS (Learning Management System) team. Responsibilities include configuring, updating, supporting, and maintaining UNM's Blackboard Learn and Moodle applications at the system level. The successful candidate will demonstrate skills and knowledge in several of the following areas: Web application administration, Apache Tomcat/webserver administration, MySQL, Linux/Unix, programming and scripting languages, backup, recovery, monitoring, and diagnostics. A computer science background and/or a degree is a plus for this position.
This position requires:
1. Significant production web application experience on a Linux/Unix platform
2. Strong verbal and written communication skills
3. Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills
4. Ability to collaborate across multiple groups to complete project assignments
5. Ability to perform problem resolution and on-call support for mission critical LMS services
6. Flexibility to work occasional nights and/or weekends, as needed for upgrades
UNM Extended Learning is a diverse group supporting continuing and distance education at the University of New Mexico, as well as providing support for state funded education contracts. The distance education mission includes course development, delivery, and support, from IT infrastructure to faculty and student services. Courses are delivered using a variety of media and technologies to students across the state. Through its continuing education mission, Extended Learning provides professional development and personal enrichment courses that can be taken independently or supplement an academic program. Extended Learning also provides expertise in training, technology, and program management to support contract initiatives for the State of New Mexico. All told, this position will support Enterprise educational applications serving 30,000
faculty, students, and staff.

MINIMUM
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree; at least 2 years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
OR
Successful completion of at least 60 college-level credit hours; at least 4 years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
OR
High school diploma or GED; at least 6 years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
PREFERRED
Qualifications:
Demonstrated understanding of web application architecture, including storage, database, application, load balancing/failover, and client tiers
Demonstrated understanding of TCP/IP, client-server interactions, and the ability to triage network/communication issues
Unix and Linux server operating systems, preferably Red Hat Enterprise Linux
Server security, firewalls, SSH, SSL, permissions/roles, etc.
Linux/Unix scripting
Experience with Apache webserver, MySQL, and PHP
Experience with Apache Tomcat
Experience managing production applications at the enterprise level
Log file analysis and growth trend projections
Strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing
Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills
Establishing, documenting and adhering to standard policies and procedures
Ability to work on a team and coordinate efforts with a variety of groups, both internal and external to the department
Computer Science background/degree a plus

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
