Albuquerque Metropolitan Central Intake (AMCI) is an off-campus agency founded in 1997, funded solely by the City of Albuquerque. We provide substance abuse assessments based upon the Addiction Severity Index. Based upon information received during the assessment, we then refer the client with a treatment voucher to a network provider.
Under indirect supervision, the counselor in this position will perform two to three assessments daily with a wide variety of primarily adult clients. The counselor will also counsel and aid individuals and families requiring assistance dealing with substance abuse problems, and refer clients to other support services as needed (minimal case management.) A critical component of this position is the ability to write professional biopsychosocial assessments based on the assessment interview within a 48-hour deadline. The computer generated assessments are sent to the treatment providers, and are used as the basis for initial treatment planning.
The ideal candidate will enjoy working with a diverse population in a fast paced environment. AMCI clients are referred by the criminal justice system; Children, Youth and Families Department (CYFD); inpatient treatment facilities; psychiatric treatment facilities; UNM counseling programs; other community organizations; or are self-referred. The candidate for this position must be comfortable working with clients who may have pending criminal charges, have engaged in criminal or antisocial behavior, or who present with co-occurring symptoms of psychiatric disorders.
The applicant must possess a current professional independent license for substance abuse and/or mental health treatment. Acceptable licenses include LPCC, LPAT, LMFT, LISW, and LADAC.
AMCI is a National Health Service Corps accredited loan repayment site. Individuals possessing Master's level, independent mental health licensure can apply for this program which may pay off a portion of, or all, student loans in exchange for two years of service.
This is a benefits eligible position. The University of New Mexico provides a comprehensive package of benefits including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance. In addition, UNM offers educational benefits through the tuition remission and dependent education programs. See the Prospective Employee page for a more complete explanation of UNM benefits.
Funding available through 06/30/2015; continuance beyond that date is subject to the Department's operational needs as outlined in UBPPM #3200, Employee Classifications, Term Appointment Employees:
